The Haunting of Sulpich Wood
A place of wild magic and horrible monsters, few have adventured deep within and returned alive. The ebb and flow of magic occasionally causes the boundary to encroach upon the civilized lands to its south, a source of considerable consternation to the civilized people who live there.
The Savagelands are notable also for containing great relics of ancient power. Wealthy nobles from the civilized kingdoms often gather adventuring parties to seek one of these. However, those within a day’s travel of the magical border (the survival rate of such parties is still less than 50%) are generally gone already, and by far the majority of such missions are failures. However, due to the great rewards when a mission is successful, such missions are well funded and plentiful.
In the year 180, the boundary moved as far south as central Esuonia, devastating most of Selland and large parts of Gimland in the process.
